Beats & Beats invites local percussionists to perform freely in the exhibition’s gallery and engage with sonic and spoken dialogue around the work of Milford Graves.

Drummer/percussionist Ted Byrnes comes from a jazz background and currently plays free improvisation, new music, electro-acoustic music, and noise. He has performed solo and in duo/trio/ensemble groups with such artists as Jeff Parker, Charlie Mumma, Charlemagne Palestine, LAFMS, and Zola Jesus among many others. Brynes is an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.
