Hosted by co-founders Rachael Morrison and Jamie Gaul, Drinkollage involves exactly what you would expect: making collages and drinking together. For ICA LA, Morrison and Gaul will lead a tour of the Martín Ramírez exhibition, followed by a collage-making workshop. Drinks will be provided in partnership with artist Tatiana Vahan’s Bar Fund project.
Drinkollage began in the fall of 2011 with a group of friends, a stack of magazines, scissors, glue, and some cans of Coors Lite. It has since developed into a semi-regular gathering of friends who make collages together and drink beer. Drinkollage is brought to you by Jamie Gaul and Rachael Morrison.
Bar Fund is a proposal for an LA-based artist grant system, in which funds are generated through the accumulation of small tips given by the public at the bars of art openings and events. It is an attempt to create a horizontal grant building initiative that involves the local community, offering an alternative to the top-down approach of most grant infrastructures. Open discussions are occasionally held at Los Angeles Contemporary Archive to discuss bar-fund and brainstorm other ideas for community funded artist grants.
