Acclaimed non-binary musician/multi-disciplinary artist Dorian Wood unveils ARDOR and REACTOR, two brand-new albums to be digitally released this fall. ARDOR is their first full-length release since the critically acclaimed 2017 Spanish-language album XALÁ.
In June 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the album was performed and recorded at Human Resources, a non-profit artists’ space in Los Angeles.
Dorian will perform ARDOR in a livestream album release concert on Sunday, September 6th, 2020 at 12:00PM (PST) at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (ICA LA).
ARDOR and REACTOR are both love letters to activists and to all of us doing what we can to survive in today’s times. These albums are meant to encourage both acts of resistance and self-reflection. ARDOR is rest, redressing wounds, get drunk with your friends and cry shit out. REACTOR is what comes after all that.
Music has always carried us through the unthinkable, and it continues to do so in ways that we sometimes may take for granted. A voice that sings a truth rather than speaks it can reach us in a different way. Not better or worse, just different. I am thrilled to be able to do that. As with all my previous work, I was guided by the ancestral arm of folk music. I appreciate and give adoration to songwriters and singers who have left a crucial imprint on who we are today as free thinkers, and who recognized the importance of fighting for others via one’s own craft,” says Dorian.
ARDOR will be digitally available on Friday, September 4 on major digital platforms, including Bandcamp, Apple Music, and Spotify.

Acclaimed non-binary musician/multi-disciplinary artist/activist Dorian Wood(pronouns: they/them) seeks to glorify both the sanctity and irreverence of intimacy. Through the use of their corpulent body and booming voice, Wood revels in challenging the artist-audience separation, using subject matter informed by their own perspective as a non-binary brown person and an autodidact. Their work has been showcased in concert halls and performance spaces around the world, including at institutions as The Broad, REDCAT, Museo Nacional Del Prado, the City Hall of Madrid and Teatro de la Ciudad Esperanza Iris in Mexico City. From 2019 to 2020, Wood completed several successful tours throughout Europe, Mexico and the U.S. with their chamber orchestra tribute to Chavela Vargas, XAVELA LUX AETERNA. Most recently, Wood became a 2020 Creative Capital Award recipient. Wood has released over a dozen recordings, among them the albums BOLKA (2007); Brutus (2010); Rattle Rattle (Atonal Industries, 2013); Down, The Dirty Roof (Atonal Industries, 2013) and XALÁ (Atonal Industries, 2017).
