Ignacio Perez Meruane (Caracas, Venezuela 1983) is a Chilean artist who lives and works in Los Angeles. His work is focused on the ways in which capitalism and globalization intersect with and impress upon culture, people, and our environment. Through sculptural processes and material explorations, his work gives form to research and direct observation into overlapping geological, geographic and political histories. His work has been exhibited in Santiago, Chile, New York, and venues across Los Angeles such as Human Resources, South Willard, Commonwealth & Council, Craft Contemporary, Los Angeles Contemporary Archive and Clockshop, where he currently serves on the Board of Directors. Perez Meruane received a B.F.A. in General Sculptural Studies from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and an M.F.A. from the California Institute of the Arts.
