For over 30 years, Skip Arnold has been an important fixture of #LosAngeles’s artistic community. From confrontational #videoart to durational #performance, Arnold is both the author and the artwork itself. In the 1990s he integrated travel into his practice - shipping himself in a crate from Austria to Germany and traversing the Bermuda Triangle using funds from a Guggenheim fellowship. Twenty years later, @theicala presents the world premiere of ‘Truffle Hunt’ (1998/2018) that incorporates a comprehensive collection of media and ephemera of a road trip to Italy to find truffles at the annual harvest. Joined by fellow artists Julien Bismuth, Hans Wigan and the late Jason Rhoades, maps, videos and Polaroids of this theatrical journey that have lived in a briefcase since 1998 are revisited for the first time - including the prized delicacy: a #truffle.
