Brett Westfall is a multi-media artist who works in painting, sculpture/installation, fashion, and media. His visual art ideas are integrated into apparel for his WESTFALL brand. One-of-a-kind collections are created with dyes using his own color recipe and all garments have hand-dyed, hand-distressed, and hand-stitched elements. Graphics for the brand are anchored in his drawings and paintings that explore nature and society.
In 2002, Westfall began a creative relationship with Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo. He has collaborated on such CdG labels as Comme des Garçons Homme Plus; Comme des Garçons Shirt; Comme des Garçons Comme des Garçons; and Comme des Garçons Girl. In 2008, he co-conceptualized the Comme des Garçons Guerrilla Store in Los Angeles. In 2021, he collaborated with Kawakubo for the Signs of Life exhibition for the Comme des Garçons Trading Museum in Tokyo and Dover Street Market, New York.

Asuka Hisa, ICA LA Director of Learning and Engagement, is a curator of programs with a focus on learning through a diversity of ideas; artist-driven projects; and social action. In 2024, she was a Smithsonian Fellow in Museum Practice. She is a lecturer and adjunct faculty member for Occidental College; UCLA’s School of Art and Architecture; and Otis College of Art and Design with courses on learning and engagement in contemporary art museums. She was the lead curator of CURRENT:LA FOOD, a public art triennial with the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, Public Art Division (2019). She was appointed to the Arts Commission for the City of Santa Monica (2007-2011). She was Board President of the Museum Educators of Southern California (MESC; 2009-2011). She received the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres from the Ministry of Culture of France. She is a board member of Automata—an organization devoted experimental puppetry, theater, and film based in Los Angel …
