Art After White People: Time, Trees, & Celluloid… confronts and examines human will, human frailty, political ego, and ritual, and it brings Pope.L back to his roots in experimental theater, complete with stage sets, masking, and artifice. It also presents a multifaceted journey of discovery, reveling ever-more layers as the viewer navigates the entirety of the space. Though Pope.L has been a significant contributor to the art world over his thirty-year career, this was his first one-person museum exhibition on the West Coast.
