Seven Artists: Aspects of Contemporary Japanese Art

Planned originally as an exchange programme between the sister cities of Nagoya and Los Angeles, the exhibition ‘Seven Artists: Aspects of Contemporary Japanese Art’ has become a touring exhibition in the United States and Mexico. The exhibition features work of seven Japanese artists who span several generations and work in a variety of media. The major purpose of the exhibition, according to the curator, is not to provide a historical retrospective of Japanese art, but rather to introduce aspects of contemporary Japanese art through seven artists who have produced important work. Biographies as well as selected bibliographies of the participating artists are provided in this catalogue.
