Bon Angeles (Blue)

The Stadtisches Kunstmuseum Bonn readily seized the opportunity - in cooperation with the representation of the Land Northrhine-Westphalia in Bonn - to prepare the exhibition Bon Angeles. By sculptures relating to space, new painterly works and woodcuts, the eight Dusseldorf artists Hilmar Boehle, Marcel Hardung, Ernst Hesse, Adolph Lechtenberg, Annette Leyener, Julia Lohmann, Wasa Marjanov and Manfred Muller, gave vivacious insight into their artistic work. In this group exhibition, different positions unite to an exciting ensemble and make visible - in the multifariousness of the used materials - a point of departure of contemporary at.

The artists, who came together for this project, regard the exhibition in Bonn as the starting point for an international bridging. The Rheinland and the American Westcoast was connected artistically, in a sense of a German-American meeting, because the eight Dusseldorf artists worked in Los Angeles during the summer to open the Santa Monica Museum of Art - built by Frank O. Gehry - with new objects by them.

Bon Angeles was an exhibition at the Santa Monica Museum of Art in cooperation with the Goethe Institute Los Angeles, co-sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Department of City of Los Angeles and Deutsche Lufthansa AG.
