Martín Ramírez (1895-1963) is the subject of @theicala’s inaugural exhibition in our main gallery. Approximately 50 works on #paper demonstrate the artist’s rhythmic mark making and reveal the development of his unique visual vocabulary, which has been influential on subsequent generations of artists. This major retrospective of approximately 50 works draws Ramírez into the critical orbit of art in California, where the crossover between Latin American art + American #Modernism found its fullest realization - ‘Martín Ramírez: His Life in Pictures, Another Interpretation’ opens Sept 9 at our Grand Opening Weekend in #dtla and is part of this year’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA @pstinla exploring Latin American and Latino #art in dialogue with #LosAngeles | #icala #martinramirez #pstlala #comingsoon
