This Sunday performance artist and @ucla professor Andrea Fraser presents a lecture in conjunction with her essay, ‘Toward a Reflexive Resistance’ published in @xtraartjournal Volume 20 number 2. The essay discusses how artists and arts institutions both challenge and reinforce established relations of power, and the importance of critical reflexivity in the face of complex forms of domination in relation to the cultural capital in the wake of the 2016 American Presidential elections. #AndreaFraser is one of our featured #5WomenArtists during @WomenintheArts month this March. First up is #SarahCain who inaugurated our courtyard with the dynamic wall installation, ‘now I’m going to tell you everything’, 2017, curated by #JamillahJames (swipe 👉 to view). Color and texture unfold across the 800 square feet wall that also features a bench, camouflaged in the design.
